Cookie Policy

Effective September 9, 2026

1. What Are Cookies and Local Storage?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website when you visit it. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently, to remember your preferences, and to provide information to the site owner. Cookies can be "session" cookies (deleted when you close your browser) or "persistent" cookies (remain on your device for a set period or until you delete them).

Local storage is browser storage that remains on your device until it is cleared. We use the term "browser storage" below to cover cookies and local storage together.

2. How We Use Cookies

The public website remembers when you dismiss its privacy notice. The app at app.zvsquared.com uses browser storage for sign-in and session recovery. We do not use advertising or optional visitor analytics trackers, and we do not track people across unrelated websites. The notice explains existing processing; dismissing it does not grant consent to other uses of your information.

3. Browser Storage We Use

Privacy notice preference

On zvsquared.com, zvs_cookie_notice records only the notice version you dismissed. It is set after you choose “Dismiss notice” and expires after 180 days, unless you clear it sooner or dismiss the notice again. It contains no unique visitor identifier and is used only to remember that choice. It is a first-party, host-only cookie with SameSite=Lax and Secure on HTTPS. You can reopen the notice using “Cookies & privacy” in the footer. If browser storage is blocked, it may reappear on your next visit.

Authentication cookies

Supabase sets session cookies when you sign in. They allow the Service to recognise your authenticated session, refresh it, and protect account-only pages. Blocking or deleting these cookies will sign you out or prevent sign-in from working correctly. Names normally begin with sb- and may be split into numbered chunks. The authentication library currently allows a cookie lifetime of up to 400 days, refreshed during use. Token validity is separate: sessions can expire or be revoked earlier, and signing out clears the current session. Temporary sign-in verification storage is also used during authentication.

Local storage

The app uses local storage, including zvsq_draft_session, to recover session drafts. Browser storage has no automatic expiry; it remains until the app replaces or removes it or you clear site data. Storing a draft locally does not itself transmit it. Separately, the app saves session activity and recovery snapshots to your account, including automatically during a session, and sends relevant answers and context for AI feedback when you use those features. See the Privacy Policy for server-side use. Avoid shared devices for private interview content, or clear site data after use.

4. Cookies We Do Not Use

We do not set:

  • Advertising or retargeting cookies.
  • Product or marketing analytics cookies.
  • Social-media tracking cookies.
  • Third-party cookies for cross-site behavioural profiling.

5. Technical Request Data and Third-Party Services

Visiting the website also sends technical request data, such as your IP address, requested page, browser information and timestamps, to our hosting infrastructure. This supports delivery and security and can occur without cookies. Dismissing the notice does not stop this necessary request processing. Details and your data-protection rights are explained in the Privacy Policy.

Supabase provides our authentication cookies. If you continue to Stripe-hosted checkout or billing pages, Stripe may use cookies and similar technologies under its own policies. See Supabase's Privacy Policy and Stripe's Privacy Policy.

6. How to Control Browser Storage

You can control browser storage in the following ways:

  • Sign out: use the sign-out control to end your authenticated session on the current device.
  • Browser settings: modern browsers allow you to view, block, or delete cookies and local storage for a site.
  • Private browsing: browser storage is generally cleared when a private-browsing session ends.

Clearing authentication cookies will sign you out. Clearing local storage can permanently remove work that has not been saved to your account. Clearing browser storage does not delete records already saved on our servers; contact us to request account or data deletion.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy to reflect changes in the cookies we use or applicable regulations. Material changes will be communicated through the Service when required by law.
